6 REASONS TO DETOX WITH BENTONITE CLAY (from our detox wellness retreat blog)

Detox with clay is becoming increasingly popular as more and more people become aware of the many health benefits of this ancient and natural form of detoxification. Clay has been used for centuries as a healing remedy, and today it is being used to help detoxify the body from toxins, pollutants, and other impurities that can accumulate in the body and cause various health issues.

  •  CLAY IS ALL NATURAL

Bentonite clay is one of the most popular types of clay used for detoxification. Bentonite clay is composed of ash created from volcanoes and is known for its healing properties. It contains over 70 minerals, including calcium, magnesium, iron, silica, sodium, copper, and potassium. These minerals can help to restore balance in the body and assist with detoxification.

Many people have asked this question, and the answer is that it depends on the type of clay you are eating. Eating clay has long been practiced as a health remedy in various cultures around the world. Clay consumption can help reduce digestive discomfort and gas, as well as aid in the absorption of vitamins. There are many different types of clay available to eat, including kaolin, bentonite, and montmorillonite.

In a study from Arizona State Universitybentonite clay was found to be highly effective at killing MRSA as well as Salmonella, E. Coli and others.

Recent reviews regarding uses of clay in achieving and maintaining human health, have focused on the ancient practice of geophagy, which is the practice of eating earth materials containing clay minerals (; Ferrell, 2009). The purpose of geophagy is to elicit a healing response in humans through ingesting the easily available materials that may physically soothe an infected and inflamed gastrointestinal lining (). It has also been used topically in mud spas (pelotherapy) to absorb toxins from skin and provide heat to stimulate circulation for rheumatism treatment ().

Studies of clay benefits

Title: Bentonite Clay as a Natural Remedy: A Brief Review

Extracts from the article:

  • In a study from Arizona State University, bentonite clay was found to be highly effective at killing MRSA as well as Salmonella, E. Coli and others. What is promising as research continues in this area is that depending on the method in which the clay kills the infection, it may not be possible for the MRSA or other bacteria to develop a resistance to it as it does with antibiotics.
  • Generally, it seems that bentonite can be considered as a treatment in different types of toxicities.
  • Bentonite is also shown to act efficiently in healing of skin lesions and ulcers
  • For a long bentonite was considered as a treatment of diarrhea. At 1961, it was shown that orally administered bentonite treat 97% of cases with different causative factors of diarrhea (virus infection, food allergy, spastic colitis, mucous colitis, and food poisoning)
  • Bentonite is shown to decrease the bleeding and clotting time and therefore is suggested as a haemostatic agent

  • Natural clays have been used to heal skin infections since the earliest recorded history.
  • Recent reviews regarding uses of clay in achieving and maintaining human health have focused on the ancient practice of geophagy, which is the practice of eating earth materials containing clay minerals (; Ferrell, 2009). • Historical accounts of humans using ‘healing clay’ began with Aristotle (384-322 BC) () and Pliny the Elder (23–79 AD) later recounted the cure of intestinal ailments by ingestion of volcanic muds (). Of the many historical accounts of clays, muds, and soils used by people for ‘healing’, the scientific evidence of the action of clays for treating and healing ulcers, tumors, cysts, cancers, osteoporosis, etc, is lacking.
